A website should make things more efficient.  Your website should be integrated to work with databases/systems and procedures.

Existing databases that are accessible should be integrated with your website.  You should always avoid trying to maintain data in two different places.  This not only increases work but also increases the likelihood of errors.

Forms, website systems and site output should also all be designed to work well with established policies or procedures.  The goal should be to allow the website to become a well integrated part of your business.
